Student reviews

Below are reviews from some of my students

I have been having a weekly 1:1 lesson with Florence for over five years.  I started from a very low level and lacking in any confidence.  One of the first tenses I learnt about was the imperfect tense. Since then, I have made steady progress and I now know, and can sometimes apply, the present, passe compose, imparfait, future simple, future proche, plus-que parfait, conditional, conditional passe and present subjunctive and much more grammar besides.

Florence is an incredibly encouraging teacher who always makes me feel like I am making progress and that I am doing fine. In addition, she is a very warm person with a good sense of humour, so you always have a bit of laugh too.

Florence understands that sometimes I have not put the time into my French learning, but she never makes me feel that I my effort is lacking. She understands that I have quite a few other responsibilities too.

I recommend Florence without any reservation as a French teacher.

I have studied French with Flo for six years and I am always looking forward to our sessions.

Flo is fully prepared with lessons tailored for you, using a range of material to develop your reading, grammar, vocabulary and two-way communication.

The lessons are fun and personal, and delivered by a true Prof Française.

I can wholeheartedly recommend working with Flo!

Madame Florence Bouriah has been teaching French to my son Hector for the past five years. Hector has learning difficulties linked to his ASD condition, which means comprehending the meaning of language is not easy for him. Yet, he has gone from strength to strength with his beloved teacher. She has adapted the learning materials to make the learning process effective and interesting, always tuning to his needs whenever necessary.

Apart from extensive teaching experience tackling all aspects of language learning (grammar, spelling, comprehension, expressive writing and interesting reading), madame Bouriah also enriches the lessons with a wonderful sense of humour, endless kindness, patience and a capacity to listen to her pupil.

We are leaving the country and Hector and I are very sad to part with her and we will endeavour to pursue remote lessons via Zoom during the summer as long as we can. We wish madame Bouriah all the success she deserves in her future professional steps. I am happy to answer any queries via e-mail.

Florence Bouriah previously taught my children at primary school and then tutored them for their GCSE's. She has a fantastic, happy mannerism and is a wonderful, inspiring tutor. All three speak very highly of Mme Bouriah.

I would highly recommend Florence. She has been tutoring me for a year now and I am currently preparing for when I transfer to Paris with my job. She always makes the lessons very enjoyable and has helped me significantly wit my conversational and grammatical French. She has a special ability to always lift your spirits and give you confidence even when it is hard and you are feeling tired!

Florence’s planning and preparation for lessons is meticulous. She adapts her teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all her pupils.

Her natural enthusiasm and vivaciousness come across in her delivery and she effortlessly excites and sparks the interest of the children in French language and culture. Her expectations of what the children can achieve is high: she not only teaches the children to speak using a lovely French accent but also to express themselves using grammatically correct sentences.
